Benefits of Awnings, Patio Covers & Canopies

Awnings, patio covers and canopies offer many benefits for your home. Not only can you use awnings to enhance the exterior beauty and style of your home, but awnings can increase your living space, help you save on cooling costs and help add resale value to your home.

Style & Color With awnings available in a broad range of canvas colors and shape styles, Mid-State can help you select the right pattern, color and style of awning to match the architecture of your home. From traditional to modern, the right awning can add character or drama to any type of residence. With installations available for patios, entryways, windows and more, your options for design are virtually limitless.

Energy Savings If you are interested in saving on your energy bills, awning installations are a great idea. Because awnings shade your windows without trapping heat or moisture, studies by the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers and The National Bureau of Standards have found that awnings are capable of reducing interior heat in a home by up to 65 percent for southern-facing windows and up to 77 percent for western-facing windows.

Increased Living Space By adding a canopy over a deck or patio, you also can increase your living space and extend the seasons in which you can use your exterior living areas. With a canopy, you’ll be able to enjoy your patio or deck during heavier sun days or rainy days.

Protection for Your Investments A patio awning also helps prevent UV damage and protect the substantial financial investments that you put into your deck, patio furniture and interior carpeting and furnishings.

Traditional Style

Our Traditional Style is a very popular choice for everything from windows to doors to deck and patio installations. Traditional awnings can be narrow and have a short projection distance (the amount that the awning comes out or “projects” from your home) for window installations. Traditional awnings also can be configured with a much longer projection distance to extend out and over a deck or patio.

dome Style

Dome style awnings are perfect for entrances and windows. Whether you want to update an older building with architectural accents or harmonize new awnings with your existing architecture, domes can be an excellent choice for your home.

waterfall Style

Waterfall style awnings are a great choice when installation space is limited. Waterfalls are frequently installed over entrances where a dome installation is not practical, or as small accent awnings over windows.

Canvas Colors & Material

Mid-State Awning features quality canvas products from Sunbrella®. For over 40 years, Sunbrella® has set the standard for awning materials that are durable and color-fast. With an incredible variety of solids and stripes, Mid-State can help you select the right Sunbrella® material for your awning. Although Sunbrella® is our primary canvas provider, please ask us about other available fabrics and suppliers.

Water Repellent Sunbrella® fabrics are water repellent. Normal wear will reduce the effectiveness of the water repellent finish, but an occasional treatment of a product such as 303 High Tech Fabric Guard™ can ensure long-term water repellency.

Mildew Resistant Sunbrella® fabrics will not mildew if you keep them clean. The acrylic fibers don’t support the growth of mildew, however, mildew CAN grow on any dirty surface.

Easy to Clean Sunbrella® fabrics can be hosed down frequently. A monthly hosing will keep your awning clean and help prevent the need for frequent vigorous cleanings. In most situations, a thorough cleaning will be needed every two or three years.

UV Protection Sunbrella® fabrics have been tested and proven to provide up to 98% UV protection (depending upon the color of fabric).

Color-fast Sunbrella® fabrics are made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic yarns. This process adds color to the fibers while they are in a liquid state and locks the color in for a color-fast and worry-free
